Lady Gaga Glitter Tea!

Was I the only person who didn't know that Gaga had gone diamond? I have to say when she first came out I thought she was a potential kitschy one hit wonder with a penchant for eye-catching outfits and forgettable music. I've seen crows and they do not look tasty, but I have to grab the fork and knife on this one, because I was so wrong. Lady Gaga, who humbly told Oprah that she rather just be called Gaga because being called "lady" felt "weird" has taken the charts by storm since her debut. And looking at the same episode of Oprah, specifically Gaga's performance, it is fair to say that Gaga's diamond status is well deserved.

She is not just a pop sensation, but also an advocate for individuality that has not been seen is a very long time (at least since her Grammy collaborator Elton John). She is also one of the only mainstream pop stars to speak openly about gay rights and safe sex with raw honesty. To sum it all up, she a personality. One that I foresee, (and I don't foresee me eating crow with this prediction) being relevant for a long time.

Added note: Soon, "Telephone" Gaga's hit with my other favorite pop star, Beyonce, will be coming out soon. So look out for it!

(This is not the "official" video and I don't know why the creator said it was).

Washington Tea: The First Rank, Rotten, Soaked Tea Bag Award!

Today has been a big day in politics. And the person providing the most rank tea leaves is Senator Jim Bunning from the state of Kentucky. It would be too simplistic to call him a douchebag (plus that insults Summer's Eve) but he certainly is perhaps the most heartless, thoughtless politician we have seen in a while. If Kentucky sends this waste of a seat with a heart three sizes too small back to D.C., they deserve what they get. Too bad though that his heartlessness has already affected 2,000 people and halted construction around the country (via Huffington Post). Has he expressed belated regret? Nope. His response has been a big eff you, literally. So the winner of the Rank Rotten Soaked Teabag is Senator Jim Bunning of Kentucky! Congratulations to you, Sir and my deep condolences to your state.

(You're welcome for the terrible Microsoft Paint job lol)

(To give you a soundtrack. I personally think they should cue this song whenever Bunning enters a room, but sigh some dreams....)

Tuesday TV Tea

Bad Girls like to play rough (humming because yes I am that person who never knows the words to songs). Let's just suffice it to say that Tuesday night is all about Bad Girls! And I am looking forward to tonight! For two reasons:
1) Kate's cute boyfriend brings some testesterone into the house and Ms. "I Run" Chin will be stirring up some trouble based on her own delusions. And Kate goes off, finally showing what really makes her a bad girl!
2) Is this the Flo vs. Amber night? I heard it was, but two fights in one show? I'm not going to get my hopes up, but if Flo takes on Amber tonight that will make my day! My cup is ready, I just wish it was 10PM!

Tuesdays at 10PM on Oxygen

Last Night's TV Brew

1) Fantasia For Real

For real honey, what is up with Teeny? Teeny is a lazy mess! This boy (and I use boy purposefully) is knocking on 30 so hard he's leaving bruises on the door and instead of manning up he made himself a dependent on his sister! This dude is going to go to test drive a Ferrari with no license, then to add insult to injury he decides it would be a good idea to rip up Fantasia's pool house! The foolawangery that is Teeny will give us muchos entertainment, but poor Fantasia dealing with his lazy bum self.
Added to that he is enabled by everybody except his Aunt Bunny (I am so looking forward to more Aunt Bunny fun later in the season). I can see taking care of your mother because I always let Mama Pearle (that's what I call my mom) know that when I get money she's going to be able to sing the Kanye West song, but a brother dang near thirty! Oh no mam, but that's entertainment.

2) Let's Talk About Pep

Yes, let's talk about Pep and how much I love, love this show. First and foremost, this is exactly the dating show I as a Black woman have been waiting for. I mean there was Sex and the City, and while I throw no shade toward Carrie and co, was I the only one who wished the girls had had a Black, Latina, etc friend? Let's talk about Pep is the answer to that. All the women have lucrative careers with not one gold digger fighting for the love of Ray J, Flav, or whoever else VH1 could find open for filming. These ladies are in control of their romantic lives and I personally enjoyed watching.
I admit Kitty is my favorite and the moment. She is brash and unapologetically herself, and she was also the lady with the most (ahem) interesting date during last night's show. She's such a tough cookie, it should be interesting to see if she shows any vulnerability as the show goes on.
Pep and Jaque are feeling age and cobwebs (ahem) during this episode. Jaque is figuring out whether to put a baby before romance and Pep is just trying to air out the basement (if you know what I mean). Both of them had a compelling storyline that I will enjoy seeing more of. The only lady we didn't get to see dating was Joumanna, but the previews for the next episode were dishy enough for me to be posted at my TV on Sunday with my cup.

Changing my Monday Night TV Brew

Now, I said I would be watching CSI Miami at 10PM tonight, but honey, plans change! Especially when VH1 gives me the business with Fantasia's new show and the series that people are dubbing "the black Sex and the City," Let's Talk About Pep. The trailer looks like it is beyond that good good and I will be right there with my cup for all the Tetley goodness.

Monday Night TV Tea

So what to watch on a Monday night...? Hmmm well here's what I'm watching:

At 8PM-10PM Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow on MSNBC

Secrets out I'm a proud lefty and on Monday nights I am getting my left leaf tea bag going with Keith Olbermann at 8PM and Rachel Maddow at 9PM. They are snarky, funny, and even though I don't always agree with them, always entertaining.

At 10PM it is CSI: Miami CBS

If you aren't watching Horatio and his crew I don't know where you've been and what you've done with your life. I'm kidding, but you should really start watching. CSI Miami is the best of the CSI franchise (to me). It is sleek and actually as glamorous as a cop show can be. But most of all, there is Horatio, cool as a cucumber and slow motion swagger ready. Who could ask for more?

Welcome one and all to Ms. Krys' tea party! We are going to be sharing tea about everything, music, books, politic, and of course pop culture (What's tea with the Queen Bey?). Enjoy your stay and as my Southern family would say "come on back y'all, ya hear?1)
